Understudy is an all-in-one Discord management and community bot designed to give server owners the tools they need to build, manage, protect, and grow their communities without assembling a stack of separate bots.

Moderation, leveling, member management, automation, role systems, tickets, announcements, events, community engagement, server insights, and a full web dashboard all live under one roof. Understudy is built to handle the work behind the scenes so your staff can spend more time actually running the community.

But the feature list is only part of why Understudy exists.

### We think communities deserve more for free.

Too many tools that have become basic parts of running an online community are locked behind subscriptions. Individually, those subscriptions may not seem like much. Start combining moderation, leveling, analytics, ticketing, automation, reaction roles, announcements, and other services, though, and suddenly running a Discord server comes with its own monthly software bill.

We don't think it has to work that way.

Gettin' Low Productions was created around a simple idea: **give the power back to communities and the people who play in them.**

That's why Understudy's free tier is meant to be genuinely useful. It isn't designed solely as a demo that constantly pushes you toward a checkout page. We want communities to have access to the core tools they need to operate a real server without requiring the owner to pay simply because their community exists.

Paid tiers will expand what Understudy can do, increase limits, and provide more advanced capabilities, but our goal is to put more functionality in the hands of free communities than they may be accustomed to getting elsewhere.

Understudy brings server management together through Discord and its web dashboard. Managers can configure features visually instead of relying entirely on commands, while staff can continue working naturally from Discord.

Moderation actions can be tracked and logged. Tickets can become documented cases with outcomes. Members can build a history within the community through leveling and Member Resumes. Roles, automation, scheduled content, announcements, events, and other systems can be managed without bouncing between unrelated bots and dashboards.

GLP didn't start because we wanted another subscription attached to Discord. It started because we saw useful technology becoming increasingly inaccessible to the very communities it was supposed to serve.

So we're building another option.

Understudy won't put every feature we've ever created into the free tier, and running these services isn't free for us either. But when we decide what belongs behind a paywall, the question isn't simply *"Can we charge for this?"*

It's *"Should a community have to pay for this?"*

That distinction matters to us.
